prelapse

of course for a long time, innumerable years, we had no notion that the indicative or affective noises we made would ever be able to become placeholders for notions as complex as 'complexity' or 'placeholder.'    i guess we just let each other know the things that were important: that we were heresafe or thereendangered, that we had food or that we were hungry, that the weather looked like rain, that that girl was, like, mine, and if you disagreed then test of strength / wits.  we all knew the girl would go with the best last so such things were largely ritualistic.

Great-grandpa had no name in those days.  Horizon like that, it gets as though the days are passing through you and you stretched eternal beyond tomorrow and before today.
